Sense of Africa has embarked on a few programs aimed
at fulfilling its corporate responsibility within the larger
public environment. The efforts are varied, but based on trying
to support balance between profit, sport, skills sharing and
upliftment.
Mentorship Program Sense of Africa has continued its enterprise
development program for Camelthorn Tours and Transfers. What
started as the supply of fixed premises and a mentorship program,
has grown into a success story within the transformation charter
of Namibia. The program entails aspects of
the following: |
|
|
|
|
Mentoring the management with regard to meeting business standards,
tax control, VAT returns, passenger permits
Actively identifying and initiating business oppor-tunities
Providing soft loans and infrastructure to operate the enterprise
Preferential procurement to Camelthorn as a stra-tegic partner
Providing information and knowledge bases regar-ding business
plans etc |

Camelthorn
has grown from a small start-up enterprise to the success story
within Namibia’s larger BBBEE Tourism Transformation Charter.
Skills Development
Sense of Africa has committed itself to spending its own resources
to train, improve and recognise the skills of employees from
a previously disadvantaged back-ground. We are currently running
traineeship programs for 5 new trainee consultants in terms
of our BBBEE program, all of whom should be suitably skilled
by the end of 2007. In addition, we have programs for formal
improvement of our operations staff, taking apprentice mechanics
and providing them with formal training, skills and development.
The programs are a great benefit to the company as we are the
first recipients of the new skills learnt by these trainees.
UNESCO Childrens Day
As part of our responsibility to under-privileged children,
we participate in and sponsor the childrens day held annually.
Sports
Sense of Africa participates as a company in sporting events,
but also provides sponsorships and transport to sport associations
to grow sport within the country.
