Global Conferences Social Responsibility

Global Conferences Africa allocates 1% of the company’s before tax profit for Social Responsibility initiatives.
Examples of our social responsibility efforts are:

The Witzenberg Trust was established with three core focus areas namely; education, healthcare and SMME development with a specific focus on agriculture and women in the Ceres, Tulbagh and Witzenberg areas in the Western Cape. Global Conferences Africa volunteered our services to the Witzenberg Trust to handle all secretarial, administrative, financial control and running of a major philharmonic concert, which is to take place in Ceres in October 2008. In addition to being a major fund-raising exercise for the community, this project aims to bring music to the communities in rural area.

Jooste Hospital in Kayelitsha. We contributed confectionary packs to go into ‘Thank you’ bags to the approximately 500 nurses and other women who work tirelessly under challenging circumstances, as part of a Women’s Day initiative and we intend doing something similar each year.

The South African Football Association. Global Conferences Africa donated R10 000 toward development of children’s soccer, which was used towards transport children from townships to University of the Western Cape - training headquarters.

Environmental Policies

Global Conferences Africa subscribes to the principle of sustainable environmental tourism. To this end, the company aims to ensure that any negative impact that the business may have on the environment is minimised.

Global Conferences Africa has introduced recycling and responsible waste management practices. Waste paper is delivered to a local school where the school aims to educate scholars on recycling and through their ‘Dear Earth’ recycling project, raise funds for the school.

Global Conferences Africa encourages an ethos of education around responsible and environmentally friendly behaviours both in the workplace and at home.
